About the Conference: The Lagos Model United Nations is the biggest annual Model United Nations Conference in Nigeria and the largest organised by a Nigerian school in West Africa. The organization simulates committees within the United Nations and imparts youth with valuable research, speaking and argumentation skills.

The Lagos Model United Nations ‘23/24 Conference held from the 14th until the 16th of July 2023 in the University of Lagos. Its theme was “The Roadmap to a Sustainable Future: A Strategic Approach to Achieving the SDGs through Technology.” 200+ delegates were in attendance; they engaged in debates, SDG-knowledge sessions, idea fairs and networking activities over a period of three days.

About My Role: As Under-Secretary General 1 Media and Communications, I was the organization’s Head of Media. I was responsible for co-directing a team of 26 staff members. With Moyosola Olowokure (USG 2), I oversaw content planning, content creation, PR and messaging for LMUN.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Managed a team of 26 media staff across six sub-teams (including Content Strategy, Newsletter Writing, Content/Copywriting, Graphic Design, Content Creation, and Social Media Management.)
  2. Conceptualised and administered media campaigns, including the LMUN #SDGSaturdaySession, #LMUNAttends, and LMUNxHerStory Takeover.
  3. Developed a structured framework for documenting and filing the organisation’s media resources to ease tracking and reporting to staff, partners, and the alumni.
  4. Co-developed a comprehensive social media strategy for the conference.
  5. Oversaw all email, website and social media posting schedules and content review.
